When we paint your racket, its technical characteristics remain stable. However, there are also cases when the athlete wants to change these characteristics. Welcome to the world of Racket Painting Customization.

But let’s start with the basics. What is Racket Customization?

The goal of customization your racket is to get the racquet as close to your desired style of play as possible to improve your hitting. This customization is only for you, according to your own personal needs, based on your own personal playing style and based on your personal racket. An experienced racket technician, with the right machinery and tools, can help you get the best performance from your racquet by helping you find your ideal weight, balance and swing weight.

Customization includes:

  • Increase or decrease the weight of the frame
  • Change of the balance point
  • Changing the moment of inertia (swingweight) of the racket
  • Increase or decrease the handle size
  • Changing the shape of the handle

Until now, adding weight was done using lead strips (lead tape) but today Racket Painting also offers a revolutionary new service.

Lead strips are manufactured in two dimensions( 1/2 και 1/4 inch). The rational placement of the lead tape is the basic method of parametrizing a racket. They have the advantage of being easily removed so we can change the features until we find the optimal settings for your racket.

Racketpainting offers a new specialized service in which the lead strips are removed and replaced with the same weight using the appropriate materials. But even here we give you two options: either add weight without changing the color of your original racket or change the color or design.

We must check the static weight, balance and swing weight of the racket. We measure the weight on a precision scale, the balance on a special instrument called a balance board and the swing weight with a special diagnostic machine called a tuning center.

Racketpainting, committed to providing the best service, has the state-of-the-art Head Tuning Center for the ultimate customization of your racket.

The main points of adding weight to a racket are 5:

  • Adding weight to position 12

By placing the weight on the top of the head we significantly increase the power of the racket. At the same time, however, we are significantly increasing the swingweight of the racket so it should be done with care on rackets with a high swing weight and to head heavy rackets.

  • Adding weight to position 3 & 9

To increase the rotational stability and strength of the frame we place weight on the racket head at the 3 & 9 o’clock positions.

  • Adding weight to shoulder positions 10&2 o’clock

For a less dramatic perception of the weight change but also to gain rotational stability we add lead tape at the 10 & 2 o’clock positions.

  • Adding weight to the throat of the racket

he best way to add weight without changing the feel of the playing characteristics is to add weight to the throta or more correctly to the balance point of the frame.

  • Adding weight to the handle

Adding weight to the racket handle helps us add weight without increasing the swingweight. It also helps us to keep the balance of the frame stable since we have put weight on the head of the add-on racquet exactly the same weight as on the grip.

Adding weight is done strategically depending on the goal we want to achieve. The important thing is not the weight we will add but the position we will place the lead tape. Changing the weight of the racquet head by just a few grams can significantly change the swing weight and balance of the racket, significantly changing the playing behavior of the frame with the risk of injury and should therefore be done by a qualified racquet technician.
